LEADERS 5 happens once a month. It is an opportunity for 5th graders to introduce what they learned in the 4th grade to younger students (kindergarten or 1st graders). This gives 5th graders an opportunity to be leaders and share the gift of mentoring they received in 4th grade. A LEADERS 5 day has three main parts and takes about 90 minutes..
1. LEADERS Huddle: The LEADERS Acrostic is reinforced with the 5th graders as they prepare to mentor their younger buddies that day. 2. Guest Reader: A guest reader reads the book of the month from Academy 4 that is related to the month's leadership trait. 3. Mentoring Time: During mentor time, 5th graders work through a simple one-page worksheet with their buddies, read a book that they bring to share with their buddies, and do a craft together that relates to the leadership trait of the month. |
Service opportunities give 5th graders more opportunity to develop as leaders and serve in their community. The 5th graders will participate in two service projects during the course of the year. These projects are determined in coordination with the school and the Academy 4 church partner. In the past, these projects have included things like Feed My Starving Children food pack, pet shelter supply drives, and first responder support and encouragement. |
